Wrist straps & ESD footwear is the first line of safeguard against electrostatic charge produce on the human body. They are developed for carrying away this type of charge as soon as it is built up. Simultaneously, the wrist strap or footwear must remain electrically safe & secure for the user. As a result, it is necessary to test every wrist strap or test footwear on regular basis.
To protect sensitive electronic parts or components, the maximum resistance to wrist strap should not be over 10 megohms and resistance to footwear should not be over 35 Mega ohms. Even then, the resistance should not be less than 0.75 Mohm because safeguard to the wearer from hazardous levels of current and voltage flow.
